Fort Myers, Florida secretary accused of bad board behavior

Question:

mean-board-president-ladyI am a member on a Florida condo board. A German friend in our association asked me to type up an estimate for a contractor to clean the outside vents and put cages on them.

I did this because there is a slight language barrier. Our association says it is owners' responsibility, thus many people were asking for this contractor's name and estimate.

The form I typed up ended up on the bulletin board of each building. I was threatened by the board president and told I was misusing my authority and power and neglecting my fiduciary responsibility to our association for typing this up for a friend. I did not solicit work for this contractor.

Many people in our condo association had hired this person before for other things and highly recommended him while they were sitting around the pool one day. I was not present when this occurred. Did I neglect my fiduciary responsibility? I do not feel I did in any way. I simply typed up a request for a friend who ask me to do so.

Since this occurred, the president has sent out many e-mails that blatantly defame my character. She has lied on several occasions, and caused such conflict that people no longer like her and her militaristic attitude.

She has posted different advertisements on the board. One for a chocolate party, one to get volunteers to put down much when our by-laws state that no member shall participate in any grounds work--yet she had about 20 people who live here do the work.

She has posted a notice to have friends meet to go out to eat, yet when I sent out an e-mail for a ladies day out for lunch and shopping and to meet at the clubhouse, she said since I was a board member it appeared it was sanctioned by the board.

This was simply a gathering of friends who live here to spend the day together. I cannot find anywhere in the by-laws or articles where I was neglecting my fiduciary responsibilities. If I was, she did the same thing.

As the secretary of the board, what are my rights and fiduciary responsibilities under Florida condo law?
