Maryland condo management company running us into the ground

Question:

running-condos-into-groundI live in a 132 unit condo community in Harford county, MD.

Some history:

(1) since 2002, our assoc fees have increased over 200%.

(2) from 2002 to 2014 our community paid well over $3,000,000 in association fees.

Our community does not reflect this amount of money. As a matter of fact, we now have 1 unit that has been condemned due to mold.

(3) for several months, we have been asking for financial books and records. We did receive some, but the amount of the invoices did not equal the expenses stated in our Capital Expense Report.

As of right now, I filed a complaint with Attorney General's office because our property management president refuses to respond. As a matter of fact, his presence was requested at our Board meeting today, and the president of our property management company CANCELLED OUR BOARD MEETING.

Obviously, we have a very weak and ineffective board of directors (they are being replaced in November).

We have our property management president who rules our board, hides our financial books and records, and controls all of our finances. Our past and present treasurers have assigned all duties and responsibilities over to the property manager. We are in serious trouble.

Where do we go next? I find it absurd that we would have to obtain an attorney.
