New board removes large amount of foiliage

Question:

cutting-down-palm-trees-condo.jpgWe live in a 55+ condo community that is over 40 yrs.old. We had very lush foliage.

In August of '13, residents received a letter saying that "some" Areca palms between units had been allowed to grow too tall, so therefore they were being removed along w/ all seed pods, palm fronds and overgrown green base from these types of trees. They said that this provision was written into the new landscapers' agreement.

Instead, we have seen not only those trees hacked down, but hundreds of other bushes and trees throughout our complex, and most importantly, many that line the complex wall surrounding our community and major busy thoroughfares.

Our foliage cut down on the noise from roadway traffic, and cut down on dust, pollution, etc. It is horrendous. Our great variety of bushes & trees also became habitats or seasonal refuge for certain small wildlife (bunnies) and birds.

Needless to say, this was done by new board members who've shown a consistent pattern of dictatorial conduct and bullying behavior to residents and employees.

When we ask about any changes, we are told at the board meetings to "run for the board or otherwise, get out."

3 or 4 of these men are quite crude and vulgar with language when speaking to residents. It is a shocking change to longtime residents.

We thought trees, bushes etc, belonged to the community, and that such dramatic changes must be voted on. We are heartsick, and we'd appreciate your feedback.
