Sweating sprinkler pipes staining ceiling in Stuart, FL

Question:

sweating-pipesA few weeks ago, I happened to look up at my ceiling and I noticed water stains.

I called the property management company and they sent someone over from maintenance to look at it.

When he got there, he told me the water stains are from the sprinkler system in my ceiling, and that sometimes when it gets real hot and humid they sweat.

This didn't make any sense to me. I have been in my unit for over a year now, and this did not happen last summer when it was warm out.

Who is responsible for this? Does it fall on the owner or the association?

His solution to the problem was just to paint over the stains. If I am going to have to pay to fix the damage I don't feel as though I should have to pay every time this happens.

He told me it could keep happening in the summer months every year. It seams like there might be a leak in the sprinkler pipes, if in fact it's the sprinkler lines causing this damage.

I didn't believe him when he said the sprinkler pipes sweat - never heard of such a thing before.
