What if condo association board director misses 3 meetings in a row?

Does Florida or any other state have a requirement that if a Condo Board Director member does not attend 3 straight monthly Board meetinngs, he/she shall be dismissed from that Board?

We had that same issue. It needs to be addressed through the By-laws regarding attendance requirements by board members. I suggest that if others on your board feel the same, you can change your bylaws. Funny thing is in our case, it was the President that was gone the most and also the one who pressed the issue. But, he thinks that it is okay as long as he addresses the issues via the VP and Secretary. Corrupt board. So I say be specific in your By-laws that they must physically attend the meetings.

I belive in FL that issue is defined in your by-laws, there is no specific state statute that addresses that for a HOA. Maybe different for a condo association. In Fl the two entities are quite distinct in the statutes.

This is an issue that would be addressed in the bylaws. Usually it's 3 consecutive, unexcused meetings. And, even though it takes a vote of the members to remove a board member, this would be an exception. Another exception to the member vote to remove a board member is if a board member is delinquent in payment of assessments. I've seen both of these reasons for removal in many bylaws. Whether its a condo or a planned community makes no difference.

Refer to your Bylaws. They should be very specific on Board Member attendance. If not, maybe in your CC&R's. It's a serious issue so you may want your attorney to translate the Governing Documents for you. Good luck.
