Benefit to being an officer vs CAM?

I have been serving my condo community for over 12 years as a board member, and than as a CAM, doing the paper work of secretary and all financial work.

Now some board members say that an officer can be appointed instead of the treasurer to be responsible for the financial work, and that person would be me.

I say that since I am working already under my CAM license, what is the purpose of becoming an officer. In my view it virtually the same thing except for compensation. I believe the small compensation I do receive will remain.

Is there a benefit to being an officer? An officer serves the board, so does the CAM.
