Hi, just closed on a condo in Fort Lauderdale last week. We have subsequently discovered that the non-impact inswing Entry Door is damaged and cannot be repaired. We have asked the association about replacing the Entry Door at our expense (door is over 40 years old) with a Code compliant Door but they have told us that we cannot replace the door as they have not found a replacement that looks like the 40-year-old door. What are our rights concerning replacement of our Door with an Impact Door? Can the HOA stonewall us and refuse to give us permission for a replacement so we can obtain a Fort Lauderdale City permit? The door leaks and does not provide any security for us as the glass is broken beyond repair.
Thoughts?
