Getting harrassed by condo board. Advice needed.

Question:

My husband and I live in Dahlia in Plantation, Florida. We are owners of a town house. We moved there 6 years ago. I am writing to you to see if you can give me any advice. Since last year and this year we have been harassed by the HOA Condo board for trivial things regarding our garden (that we have too much mulch, we are not supposed to have garden ornaments, that our vegetation was too high, etc). We have tried to follow the Rules but nevertheless, we were the only victims in this community. The last thing the HOA did was removing 13 palms from our garden (2 from our front and 11 from our side garden) saying that these palms represented a violation of the landscape materials at Dahlia. The palms were healthy and there was nothing wrong with them and we are the only ones who they did this. All the units continue having palms and they have not been touched at all. Furthermore, they removed these 13 palms without permits from the City of Plantation and now they HOA want us to pay for the removal.

The palms were there since we moved so we did not plant them. So how this so suddenly represent a violation? Then most units in my community are also with violations. We are the only ones who they did this and being forced to pay for something done illegally?

The last letter we received said we were late for an assessment of $425.00 and this was the last notice and we did not pay in full, we were going to send to collections. We have never been late in the 6 years. We always pay in the automatic payment every month. For this assessment we don't know what are these charges for and we asked for a copy of the bill or note and they have ignored us completely. I think we have the right to see a bill.

Is there a way you can address this to someone? We are very tired of being harassed in a very unfair way.
