Maine owner stuck in a bad condo association

Question:

I'm 81 years of age, recent widower, past director of our Condo Association, and a unit owner here for 29 years. A few years ago a paranoid, vindictive, type moved here. He is not a unit owner, he rents. He has taken over our elderly association and become president. He fired our landscaper, stuck us with a $300,000 loan over a 10 year period (The Board has no authority beyond 3 years) He has threatened at least one unit owner with financial ruin, and today, I received a news letter from the Board, which makes it illegal to carry a firearm at the cost of a $1,000 fine. Anyone annoying him with criticism of any kind will be be considered harassment, again at the cost of a $1000 fine per occurrence. I'd get out of here if I could. I'd sue if I could. I've been in contact with the State AG, and the Governors office. I'm told condo law is contractual. Then why do we need a State Statue called the Maine Condo Act? It doesn't protect the Unit Owner's from abuse if the Board violates the law. It only reverts back to contractual, which the only legal remedy is to sue. $50,000 anyone? Milt Burdick is right about Unit Owner abuse. Short of moving, or suing, what else can be done? I live on a small pension and SS.
