Ranked-Choice Voting in HOAs: Is It Allowed for Board Elections?

Question:

This question was submitted by Nancy of Delaware

We are wondering if an HOA can use ranked-choice voting for board elections. Currently, if no candidate gets 51% of the vote, we are required to hold a new election. We don’t have a process for eliminating the lowest-ranking candidates and reallocating votes.

Can ranked-choice voting be used instead so the election can be completed in one round?
