Should condo association insurance cover gas line repair?
Question:
Condo in California. We had an emergency gas line repair that is costing our 16-unit condo nearly $30,000, requiring a special assessment. The line was under common property and not between a meter and a condo unit. Shouldn't the condo association master policy cover this sort of expense? I am not referring to individual homeowner's policies, but the master policy that the association carries.
If master condo policies don't cover this sort of emergency repair, are there any separate policies available that cover gas line repair for condo associations? This has really blindsided us. We are also worried it might happen again.
