My unit suffered water damage originated in the common area. I hired a water remediation company based on my insurance's advice. At the end my insurance denied the coverage because the master insurance covers the damage. The board refused to file for months until we threaten to suit. Finally the master insurance paid, but the board refused to pay for my water remediation cost saying I hired the contractor so it's my own responsibility to pay, even though the master insurance covered it. I want to know how to get my money to cover the expense, which was considered emergency. The board wants to use the money that's for repairing my unit to fix the common area, which was not covered by the insurance (because they didn't bother to challenge the insurance). Are there places I can go complain?
