Condo owner asking for insurance payout to start damage repairs

Question:

condo unit repair rights 060514 resized 600

My condo unit’s kitchen was badly damaged by a busted water pipe in the wall of a neighboring unit. Our Condo Association's insurance company approved the claim to restore my property to its original condition. I requested the proceeds so I can manage the repairs, including upgrades, by hiring the contractor I want, but the Condo Association refused to release the funds to me.

The Condo Association is trying to force me to allow the contractor it selected to perform the work, and to accept this contractor's estimate for upgrades. What rights do I as a co-owner have with regard to contractor selection for work that will be partially paid for by the Condo Association's insurance proceeds?
