Why cant condo owner have "coffee hour socials" for association?

Question:

The board is ignoring my written request to have a coffee hour get-together with the unit owners. I have been getting closer over the past two elections on getting voted onto the HOA board. The board knows this and decided to have an “un-official coffee hour" inviting all the unit owners for coffee and donuts. (paid for from the petty cash fund of the association). The coffee hour was held in the laundry room which is where all the meetings take place. I in turn have requested my own “un-official coffee hour" at the same location (that I am paying for it) The Officers of the Association have ignored my two written requests to have the coffee hour. There is nothing in our docs about an un-official coffee hour to offer good cheer to the unit owners. I want to proceed with my un-official coffee hour" without the board approval. What consequences can I face from the officers or the association or the property manager?
