Condo Q&A

Community associations and civil rights litigation

I helped a fellow Condominium owner file a lawsuit against our association. The unit owner won the lawsuit plus damages, plus attorney fees. The association warned me that if I help anybody else to file a lawsuit I will lose my Condominium Benefits and be subjected to monetary costs. They base this on the grounds that I am disrupting the peaceful existence of my fellow owners. There is a lot more to this, but too involved to go into at this time. My Question: Can a Condo association punish a unit owner for helping another unit owner take legal action against the condominium? Is there a civil rights issue here? I am really trying to find someone who has taken legal action against an association for violation of what I think is civil rights.
