Can condo association bill owner for legal fees about policy?

Question:

Can a condo association (in Florida) bill an owner for legal fees for asking general questions about condo policies? I recently posted in this forum because my association was enforcing a more restrictive guest policy than our docs allowed. When I pressed the issue they decided to pass my questions on to our lawyer and send me the bill. They did not ask for my consent. Can an association in Florida legally do this? Does anyone know a specific law or statute I can site to prevent them from doing this again? I was asking general questions about a policy that the board routinely enforces and should understand - I think it's outrageous that I should be billed for their ignorance. Help!
