The maintenance man blew out the smart home system!

This question is submitted by Aja S. out of Minnesota

The maintenance man came in to clean the heater system plugs in one of his shop backs. In the process, he blew out my smart home system. He says that I am responsible for this and he won't pay for the fixing.

Please, give me some advice on who's responsible in this case.
