Condo Q&A

Trustees elected by owners at the Annual General Meeting

Our Declaration of Trust says that Trustees are elected by owners at the AGM. If there is not a quorum, the Board can elect in their meeting. There are not to be more than five Trustees.

Can someone just "volunteer" for the Board and have their name added to the Registry of Deeds? It seems to me that that would not be legal. There is nothing in the Declaration of Trust or any other governing document about "volunteering" and being a 6th member of the Board.
