Any suggestions on dealing with cigarette smoking issues? We are non-smokers and both have serious allergies to cigarette smoke. The unit above us is used as a rental and currently the renter is a VERY heavy smoker. We've owned our unit for MANY years and never had issues even when there was a smoker in that unit. We've already had to make several adaptations to our unit that really aren't safe but we felt we have no option. The current problem seems to be coming from the bathroom. Best we can figure is that the exhaust fans share an outlet and somehow her smoke is dumping back through that. We've already done everything we can short of duct taping the fan off which is obviously not a reasonable option. Does anyone know if nowadays a person has any rights in this area or how we would find out if we do? (We think it's unlikely that a friendly request to the owner will get us anywhere since he's not exactly the concerned sort of person.)
