Who pays for water damage in condo unit?

Question:

The sprinkler pipe in my unit burst and there is some damage to the floor and walls that I need to repair.  The association board has told me its my problem becuase it happened in the unit.  Does that make sense?  Doesn't the pipe belong to the association?
