Board won't allow recording of dispute hearing

Question:

no-recording-condo-meeting.pngWe have a violation-related dispute with our North Carolina HOA. We won the hearing, then received a second violation for the same issue, citing different parts of the governing documents from the first hearing.

That's when we hired a lawyer. He wants to bring a court recorder to the meeting to create a transcript of the hearing. The HOA is saying they won't allow any recordation. There's nothing in our governing docs on the subject.

Can they actually forbid us from having a transcript made of the hearing?
