We do not really need an association, particularly if one that has self-interest for selected group. Board of directors is a joke when the resident manager or the office staff were dishonest and unfair in using or spending the condo money, charging different condo fees even for the same type of unit and not disclosing things and making amends to it, with managers getting special deals for board of directors, holding parties for selected few, stopping the elderly and tenants or owners from participating by creating a toxic environment when people challenge them or when meetings were held, directly verbal assault on them, so eventually they have a core of group and new unaware new residents to support them. Out of state owners does not even known what is going on. We do not need resident manager or office manager- let the place get rented out so there is income. We do not need an office manager who only try to get the board who never make themselves approachable or take real actions for each and every tenant or owner who approached them in a fair and just manager. They ignore whoever they want to ignore but they put on a good face and may even show all the good things they did on paper but they destroy or say they could not find what people had complained about. Owners and tenants should take things back into their own hands. Each block should have their own basic fees paid by themselves. It is too easy for so called board of directors to have say yes and no on voting issues. Let money be raised and let tenants and owners convince each other that something needs to be done. If those who want power on the board, they should only have power to carry out decisions made by all a 51% majority of vote with everyone voting and not the power to say yes and no. Board of directors also sometimes fight among themselves for power and that make things even worse. Do not think that the board of directors always have your interest at heart, they have theirs at heart and they work with the manager to carefully and smartly waste your money. No condo fees. No delinquency. No need to go to court or waste attorney money. I have seen things working out fine without associations. Be smart, owners and tenants.
