Can an owner charge a fee for a private event at the HOA Clubhouse?

Question:

This question is submitted by Seth P. out of Florida

I live in a Florida HOA. One of the residents is putting on a Tribute performance for a bygone singing group in the HOA Clubhouse. She is asking for $5.00 for the ticket. Some folks are saying she can't charge a fee.

Others say because the HOA hosts a Bingo nite in the same clubhouse they split the pot and the shuffleboard group charges to play and then splits the pot. Why is this a problem? Could it be called a Donation? To me, it seems like it's a private event hosted by an owner. Thank you in advance.
