Can I add a solar vent to my roof with HOA approval?

Question:

I'd like to add an attic solar vent to my roof. Right now there isn't enough ventilation for my condo, just about a 10' ridge vent. I've had opposition from my HOA and wondered if I just have to wait until they see the need for better ventilation. I will pay for it myself and will have a professional put it on.   Thoughts?
