Can we opt-out of paying landscaping fees?

I live in a townhouse complex where we pay monthly strata fees for landscaping on the common areas. The landscaping company comes weekly to maintain the tiny front yards, but only twice a year for the larger backyards. As we are paying monthly for all common areas to be landscaped, is this fair that the strata council has decided to neglect the properties behind the row of houses? Can we opt out of paying landscaping fees and just do it ourselves?
