Condo board is having too many meetings

Question:

We are a small condo association with only 42 units.  We have monthly board meetings which I am part of.  Some board members like to hear themselves talk and hold us up for longer than a board meeting should take - which is an hour.  How often do other boards meet?  Seems to me like once per quarter is more appropriate but our group insists otherwise.
