HOA should fix garage door, not me

Question:

I lived in a townhome here in Carol Stream, Illinois.  My HOA sent me a letter calling my attention about my garage header sagging. The cause was the water coming inside from the side of the balcony . They claimed it is my responsibility to have it repaired. Theres like 14 units affected . Can I fight this for the HOA to pay for the repair since the cause was their inability to maintain the deck that was on top of it?
