Is the association required to provide a working doorbell system?

Question:

This question is submitted by Karen H. out of Plymouth, MA.

I have owned my condominium for almost 4 years. I live on the third floor and I am 72 years old.

We have no doorbells that work. My question, is it required that the association provide us with a working doorbell system? Is it legal for them to just leave the doorbell system non-functional? It's so frustrating. I now hate condo living. It’s like a slum landlord running this one!
