Since owner died, do we need re-elections to run condo association?

Our association is a four-unit condo. The association docs require three (3) board of trustees. We held an election but unfortunately one of the unit owners died. Nothing stated in the document that the three remaining unit owners are automatically elected as Board. Should we still continue the election? Any advice how to proceed or share experience?  Boston MA.
