Can association treasurer be a paid position?

Question:

I am an owner and member of a small HOA (22 units) here in Portland, Oregon. I am being asked to be our Tresurer which is a paid postion, $300 monthly. This is not a board position. I see on our annual budget report that this being listed as bookeeping expenses at $3600 annually. I don't know if this is being handled correctly according to state and federal tax laws. If I accept the position I will want to record this as personal income. What do myself and our HOA need to do to make this all legal and above board?
