Trying to force out HOA board members

Question:

We have started the process to remove the majority of our board members due to bad faith decisions and conflicts of interest.  We got the signatures we need to hold a special meeting on this matter. The board is now wasting our common fee money on our condo's lawyer to help them fight this and what they can do to stop this. Do they have a right to do that. If we need a lawyer we would have to go hire our own. What right do they have wasting my common fee money on the condos lawyer to help them?
