Can condo association stop me from renting out a bedroom?

Question:

Two decades ago when I purchased my condo; I was told by the association that I could rent out my second bed room/second bath to a paying roommate .  For the last few years I have been told that residents are no longer allowed to have a paying roommate. We can only have a non- paying " additional occupant " stay with us. That person can only be a boyfriend,/husband,/family member, and will be subjected to thorough financial screening/back ground check, but is not allowed to have a rental agreement with me or the association.
Is it legal for the association to change the rules, and tell unit owners who is allowed to stay with them, and the they are not allowed to rent out part of their condo?  Hallandale Beach Florida.
