Do condo owners need to provide proof of insurance for units?

Question:

Per our HOA documents, all unit owners must have adequate insurance for their respective units. It does not state that they need to show proof of such insurance. Can our Board of Trustees add annual proof of insurance to the docs or Bylaws? Would this violate any right to privacy? We are in Massachusetts.
