HOA plumber is now a board member

Question:

Is there any New Jersey law that prohibits a board member from paying himself for contract work.

The HOA plumber bought a unit and got 'appointed' to fill a vacant board position. He is still being paid as the plumber. I'm going to read through the CCR's again, but is there any state law that covers this,

Are there laws in any state regarding this?
