I live in a 422 unit townhome association. I am concerned about our finances and requested in writing to view detailed budget, bank statements, and audits. they have said yes to everything but the bank statements. I was told by their lawyer that they are not governed by the Illinois condo act as they are a not for profit homeowners association. Also they want a $250 deposit before viewing documents as well as charging me $40.00 per hour to be supervised while viewing. Our by-laws state we follow not for profit act. What recourse do I have with this unethical board?
