Condo association enters bulk cable contract without approval

Question:

My condo Board of Directors just entered into a bulk cable contract with Cablevision without getting approval from the condo unit owners. The service starts in May and there some who are complaining about having mandated TV/Internet service. This is a 55plus community with many seniors without computers and someone without TV. We are mandated to pay $50 plus tax and fees on our condo maintenance (separate line item I believe) for basic service. Anything additional would be directly with Cablevision. Was it legal for them to enter into a six figure, 5 year deal without a vote? They quote "easement rights to do things necessary or convenient for the operation of the property".
